Music - Law - Art

Following a brief career in music, and after receiving his Doctorate in law, Callaway began his devotion to fine art. Beginning as a self taught painter, Callaway pursued the study of art as an avocation,  studying art and painting as time permitted while practicing administrative law. Early retirement allowed full time to  study and do art.   Formal study has included the American Academy of Art, Alexander School of Art in Chicago, and the Mainstreet Art School in Lake Zurich, Illinois.  Study with contemporary painters including Charles Movalli and Ovanes Berberian and the influence of contemporary Russian artists have contributed greatly to Callaway's impressionistic renderings and bold  expressive style. Callaway is past vice president of Oil Painters of America, and a member of the American Impressionist Society, Portrait Painters of America and other national and local organizations. Callaway teaches on a limited basis and is the author of Intervals In A Nutshell, a system of color harmony derived through principles of music theory.
